Let Us Play to the Lord

Seeds! Fish! And People! Oh my! Let us Pray to the Lord!

Let Us Play to the Lord! is designed to offer kids an opportunity to explore stories about Jesus in their own yards or homes. Pre-readers will need the support of a parent/caregiver to hear the stories and engage in the activities. Readers can take the activity book and instructions outside and be able to navigate the activities themselves, checking in occasionally with parents/caregivers. Our goal is to not give parents/caregivers MORE to do, but to offer parents support through activities that connect children to a story about Jesus.

Let Us Play also offers an activity that invites families to explore stories about Jesus in their own churchyard. The activity is meant to be set up in the churchyard and then left for families to come explore on their own time. Our hope is that the churchyard activity will provide families a chance to get out of the house and feel connected to their church community, each other, the story about Jesus, and God. (Thanks Jen Rome and Emily King for this explanation.) Here are some free resources:

Resource #1: Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13). Jesus tells a story about seeds and soil. What is the best soil to grow a seed?

Planting Song (tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)
Planting seeds is so much fun;
Let us count them one by one.
Drop them to the ground below,
Sun and water help them grow.
Planting seeds is so much fun;
Let us count them one by one.

Thank you Pastor Karen Williams.

Whatever you do with your families, remember – it is important to not only pray with God, but to also set aside some time to play with God in creation.
